As shockingly fewer then all know, Mister Barack Obama gave his first State of the Union Address last night. I half-heartedly streamed it while at school, to hear a chorus of "What's that?" After a sum up of who was saying what to who and why, someone said "I don't listen to political figures anymore, it's like listening to fairy tales that never come true, and if I listen to them I might accidently believe them." I found this statement interesting and a bit shocking. I think people are obligated stay in the know, regardless of your political sentiments. I suppose I can understand the fear of believing in HOPE, only to eventually come to find bitter disappointment. I find the current sentiment in this country slightly disturbing- we all loath the present but feel confident in the future because we placed it in a super hero's hands. Or, for those who didn't, they'll be sublimely thrilled to watch him fail [Not everyone, I know]. So here's to optimism and all that jazz... if the future turns out well, that is. All I know is, homeboy better clear my college loans eventually as promised, ktnx.
Continuing on the note of how much we all despise our lives and current situations, I would like to briefly discuss a Mister Holden Caulfied. Call me a traitor to my generation, but I CANNOT STAND THIS MOTHER FUCKER. I can, and will, list the reasons I dislike this character:
1. He's a shitty brother to his lovely younger sister. I personally am a pretty shitty sibling myself, but this stooge blows me right out of the damn water.
2. He's a failed womanizer. As in he wishes he were one, but is incapable, which just makes him super pathetic.
3. He is the most EMO person ever. I'm pretty sure it's safe to say he actually invented emo.
4. He openly admits he's a liar.
5. He simply cannot get his act together, not even to perform basic life tasks. Reading about his life is like watching someone drive into a wall when you know they could have perfectly well just stepped on the damn brake.
So forgive me hipsters, emo kids, and basically everyone in high school who read this bullshit and loved it because they either could "relate" or rejoiced over finally being assigned such a short novel.
May I be struck down by lighting for saying all this about this poor author's work.
RIP J.D. Salinger, I hope you were a better man than this toolbag you created.
